I am just back from a Romano-Germanic holiday with Mom.

In Rome Mom bought me an exquisite piece of wall tapestry made in Como, North Italy, a splendid gobelin in a style of a quite improbable but luxuriously stunning mix of Bouguereau's "First Kiss" and Klimt's "Kiss".

Quote of the month in regard to Bouguereau:
"It's regretful that traditionalist painters fell in disrepute at the beginning of last century. I'm glad that there is renewal of interest for academic painters. I love Impressionism above all and I appreciate modern art, but I don't think that only those paintings where one eye of the person is on the top of his head and the other is on his ass make the "only real" form of art."

Mom is dearly fond of Rome. She is also fond of Flanders and old German cities.

I am fond of Mom.
